DCYRA ILCA (formerly known as Laser) Fleet
Welcome to the DCYRA ILCA Fleet! Our ILCA fleet provides sailors of all ages a wonderful place to pursue their passion. Our location on the southern end of Deep Creek Lake offers fresh water and delightful summer temperatures. We have great racing opportunities for beginners to the die-hards that results in fun for all. We have two fleets--an open fleet where sailors of all ages compete in both full and radial rigs, and a junior fleet for sailors under 19 who prefer radial or 4.7 rigs.
Each weekend from Memorial Day through Labor Day, races are held south of the Glendale bridge near the Deep Creek Yacht Club (Deerhaven) and the Deep Creek Lake Sailing Assn (Deep Creek Yacht Club at Turkey Neck). Saturday racing is slightly shorter courses set apart from the Flying Scot race course. At least two races are held back to back starting at noon, followed by a break for lunch, then back on the water for at least two more. Sunday racing begins at 12:00 and the starts are held in conjunction with the Flying Scots. (First start is ILCA) The ILCA sail a slightly smaller course set with separate marks just inside the Flying Scot course. ILCA usually sail two races back-to-back in about the same time that it takes Flying Scots to complete their course.Sailors should register through DCYRA. For special regatta registrations and to sail as a guest, contact Charles Graham. See you out on the water!
